Canadian art-pop band Bernice are releasing Cruisin' their second album later this week, here they offer us a preview in the surreal track 'Second Judy'. The new track evokes the off-kilter melodies and production of Broadcast, with a wild array of tones and instruments yet retaining a strong sense of cohesion; synthetic strings, woodwind, organs and a clatter of percussion bubble up in the mix, pulling in and out focus around singer Robin Dann's vocals. The track is imbued with a dreamlike atmosphere, incongruous yet familiar in a way that makes for surreal and engaging pop music. Dann has provided this description for the track “Second Judy is the sun. Your favourite pocket. Your energetic forcefield. True love. Glimpses of joy. A lot of people think they’ve found Judy, but it doesn’t turn out to be her.
